Syrian Christian makes music in the Bible Centre
Special encounters and international guests at the "Long Night of The Museums".
“Jazz meets bible” was a special concert at the Bible Centre and a highlight of the event “Long Night of the Museums”, taking place at the 4th of October 2015.
Readings of famous and not-so-famous texts from the Bible were framed with jazz music by Concerto. Their musicians brought the Syrian Christian O.A. with them, who had only recently come to Austria as a refugee. The musician, who had been part of the symphony orchestra in his hometown Damascus, enriched the evening by playing the oud (a string instrument similar to a guitar) and surprised everybody with an own composition. In our guestbook, he wrote: “In my heart, I believe in one God.", and his friend wrote: "Walaa kurbaj – Thanks for safety.”
The visitors were deeply touched and kept repeating their gratefulness for being part of such a special encounter.
Safe the date: O.A. will be playing again in the Bible Centre at the grand opening of the exhibition “People on the run” at the 19th of November.
Guestbook notes in different languages
Besides a lot of guests from Vienna and Austria, we were able to welcome some international guests. We are now happy to have guestbook notes in German, English, Greek and Arabic.
A Greek family, who had been in Vienna for a couple of days and visited the Bible Centre for the first time, wrote: “Thank you for the precious work that you are doing! There’s nothing more valuable!”
